Psychological Profile

Personality Overview

Jonathan is generally a friendly, if somewhat brusque, man dedicated to his patients and Starfleet. He has little time for the pomp and ceremony that comes with being an officer and has never been afraid of making this apparent. Having served as a Marine during the Dominion War, he is haunted by his experiences during that conflict and he doesn’t often talk about the horrors that he saw, choosing to focus on the positive memories of the people he served with. A recovering alcoholic, Doctor Hill hasn’t had a drink since 2379.

Ambitions, Hobbies and Interests

Jonathan’s primary ambition is to serve his patients as best he can and to honour the memories of the friends he lost during the Dominion War.

Doctor Hill loves to unwind by listening to music, reading classical literature and medical journals. In his more active pursuits, Jon spends at least an hour a day working out either in the gym or on the holodeck. Hill enjoys competitive sports like racquetball or Bajoran springball. He keeps his phaser marksmanship qualification current and tries to squeeze in an hour on the phaser range. Recently he has taken up meditation to help him sleep, with the help of Adam Paxton.

Historical Profile

Pre-Starfleet Historical Data

Jonathan Lucas Hill was born at 0205 Hours on July 12, 2356 to James and Helen Hill. The Hills were Starfleet Officers; James a Marine Captain stationed at MCB Quantico in Virginia while Helen was a Major posted to Marine Corps Headquarters in San Francisco.

As was typical with the children of Starfleet Officers, Jonathan moved around quite a lot during his childhood thanks to his parent’s careers. While many kids his age found this to be a pain, Jonathan felt that moving so much was great because it exposed him to a number of different cultures from both inside and outside the Federation.
Jonathan had little difficulty adjusting to the various new homes that he moved to because of his parent’s careers. An inquisitive child, he considered each move an adventure and sought to learn as much as he could about the new planets and the peoples who lived there.

There were times that he wished to be able to stay in one place for longer. It wasn’t all easy on the young boy. He had no difficulty making new friends every time the family moved but saying goodbye to them was difficult. Looking back on it, he realised that this prepared him well for a life in Starfleet but regretted never having a ‘normal’ childhood.

A talented pianist herself, Helen encouraged her son how to learn how to play the piano and offered to teach him if he was interested. Jonathan had always loved music and jumped at the chance to learn to play. He found that he had a natural talent for playing the piano and throughout his life enjoyed playing the instrument to help him unwind and relax.

When he was 12, Jonathan’s father wanted to help encourage him towards joining the Marines, spend some quality time with his son and give his son a leg up with a career in the Marines. For several hours every Saturday James would take his son to the phaser range and help him hone his skills with a phaser. During the summer James would take his son on camping holidays around the Federation and during these trips he would also teach his son some of the outdoor skills that he’d picked up during his long career with the Marines.

Coming from a long line of Starfleet Officers stretching right back to the founding of Starfleet, Jonathan knew from an early age that he wanted to continue that tradition. For a time in High School he considered applying to Starfleet Academy to train as a Doctor but in the end the call of the Marines was too strong. At the age of 16, Jonathan enlisted in the Starfleet Marine Corps.
