Getting to Know Each Other

Mission: Let The Good Times Roll
Location: Meshall
Timeline: Day 11 at 1330

Adam was in the mess hall, his lunch dishes empty on the table in front of him, and his focus on the PADD in hand. He had pulled all the navigational and cartographical reports for the region they were headed to and was still familiarizing himself with the region. His relatively brief time aboard the Ulysses had seen a near-constant stream of changes to their staff, their mission, and now their op area too. He looked up from the PADD and saw the XO, giving her a smile he gestured to the empty seat across from him if she wanted to join him.

"Lieutenant," Aria nodded in greeting as she set down her cup of hot chocolate and slid into the vacant chair. Noting the now empty plate, she glanced at his reading material. "Are you sure I'm not interrupting?"

"Oh, no, I'm just reviewing the area we're heading to. Local spatial anomalies, navigational hazards, those kinds of things." The pilot replied.

Aria smiled, impressed by the initiative and the careful preparation. "I'm glad we will have you at the helm," she commented. "Hopefully we will have an uneventful trip but I will take all the help we can get."

"Well hopefully we don't have more excitement this mission." Adam replied, "How are you settling in aboard the Ulysses?"

"Settling," Aria replied with a broad smile. "It wasn't exactly an ideal start. But I hope it will let the Commander and I work better together. Are you enjoying life aboard?"

The Lieutenant nodded, "Yes, my last posting was also a Luna so it's a bit weird. Sort of 'the same but different.' My quarters are actually the exact same cabin." Adam replied. "Everyone seems good to work with so far, if our staff could stay the same for more than a day or two." He added with a grin.

“We will do our best on that front,” Aria assured him. “So beyond flying and studying our flight path, what do you like to do? Any hobbies or interests?”

"Velocity although admittedly my games is a bit rusty, or pretty much anything in the snow." He replied taking another sip of his drink. "What about yourself?"

"Been a long time since I was near snow. And the last time I went snowboarding I ended up with a broken leg," she admitted with a grin. "Swimming, kickboxing, running. If I have the time some hiking."

"I've managed to avoid any broken legs, broke an arm once," Adam replied.

"Ouch," she commented. "I have to say, I did enjoy snowboarding up until that point. Apart from the cold. I prefer warmer climates. While it is not my best sport, I'm sure there are others aboard that enjoy playing Velocity. Perhaps you could set up a team on the ship?"

"That could be fun." Paxton replied, "I'd definitely need to practice or I would probably get cut." He added.

"That would be embarrassing," Aria laughed. "But, you could be the star of the team and lead us into to glory in competitions... I'm not talking Klingon Opera style glory, we'd write you a poem or two. Maybe."

"Damn, I might have done it if I was going to get a Klingon opera, but it sounds like far too much work for a poem." He replied, taking the last bite of his food.

"Baby steps, Lieutenant," she grinned, "baby steps."

The pilot laughed. "Well, thank you for joining me ma'am, but I need to get back to the bridge. I need to check on some sensor modifications."

“Have a good day,” Aria offered with a wave. Watching him leave she decided that she too had more than enough work to do herself.
